The Fungi Kingdom is of their own, more closer related to animals than plants! They lead a double life, one above ground with light and air, the other below ground, dark with water and minerals. Slime moulds are now considered to form a separate kingdom from fungi but as we have few examples thus far, for the moment they are staying in the fungi folder. Lichens are a complex life form that is a symbiotic partnership of two separate organisms, a fungus and an alga. The dominant partner is the fungus, which gives the lichen the majority of its characteristics, from its thallus shape to its fruiting bodies. These Galleries contain hundreds of incredible images.
