Home / Fungi, lichens and slime moulds 273
The Fungi Kingdom is of their own, more closer related to animals than plants! They lead a double life, one above ground with light and air, the other below ground, dark with water and minerals.
Slime moulds are now considered to form a separate kingdom from fungi but as we have few examples thus far, for the moment they are staying in the fungi folder.
Lichens are a complex life form that is a symbiotic partnership of two separate organisms, a fungus and an alga. The dominant partner is the fungus, which gives the lichen the majority of its characteristics, from its thallus shape to its fruiting bodies.
