great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) unfledged juvenile - Kenneth Noble
Surrey, June 2012 There was a very noisy brood of great spotted woodpecker chicks in a nest hole within a few feet of a public bridelway. I didn't stay long enough to prevent the adult feeding them... and the unfledged juveniles were still present the following day, just as noisy!
