Surrey, August 2010 Field bindweed has much smaller flowers than hedge bindweed and often they have pink markings. The hoverfly, Episyrphus balteatus seems to have a particular liking for this bindweed. When I took this photo, many of the flowers had this insect in attendance, presumably feeding on the nectar.
