siskin - injured (Carduelis spinus) Kenneth Noble

Surrey, March 2018
This bird had flown into a window and was a bit the worse for wear. However, it did eventually fly off.
It's chances of survival are not great. We have put raptor silhouettes on our conservatory windows now to try and reduce the danger of birds seeing 'a short cut' round the back of the house. According to Cornell University's website, birds often see reflections of shrubs and grass in the window and think that there is more open habitat where the glass is.
