This male vapourer moth seems to be newly emerged. I must admit that I didn't know what was going on but a friend has pointed out that it is sitting on a cocoon - presumably its own - and that some larval hairs are visible. It's on the frame of our front-door which is close to a Pyracantha where I photographed a larva a couple of months ago.")
